Wild & Scenic Film Festival

13th Annual

Dedicated to our beloved owner, Brian Havertine

What started 13 years ago as an evening of hosting inspirational shorts, has become a much-anticipated two-night production featuring some of the favorite films of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, the largest festival of its kind in the United States, with all proceeds equally benefiting The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County and Stroud Water Research Center.

The resounding favorite film from the Thursday night crowd was about saving the world’s most trafficked mammal — the pangolin. This uplifting film showed how Nigerians are fighting to save this creature from poachers. Close seconds included a film about a blind whitewater kayaker and another about two women paving their own way in Colorado through singletrack biking and great pizza.

On Friday night, attendees were inspired by Kristal “Ocean,” a young Bahamian woman battling plastic pollution, and the healing powers of nature shown in Steamboat Creek’s “Sanctuary.”

Before the films, attendees enjoyed a variety of food donated by local vendors. We are grateful for the donations from Country Butcher, The Farm at Doe Run, Giordano’s, Harvest Market Natural Foods, Hood’s BBQ, Iron Hill Brewery, Landhope Farms, Lily’s Asian Cuisine, Nomadic Pies, State Street Pizza, Triple Fresh Market, and The Whip Tavern. The delicious food was washed down with cider from Barnard’s Orchard, iced tea from Wawa, beer from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, and wines from Galer Estates and Country Vintner.

Thank you to all of the sponsors who helped to support this event including Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Fair Play Foundation, Mushroom Farmers of Pennsylvania, Diver Chevrolet, Buckley Brion McGuire and Morris, Harvest Market Natural Foods, Glen Eagle Square, Laurel Valley Soils, Margot Mohr Teetor Real Estate, and Unionville Equine Associates.

The 2020 Film Festival was dedicated to Trail Creek Outfitter’s beloved co-owner, Brian Havertine. We will forever be grateful for his passion, spirit, leadership, and generosity. Thank you to everyone who attended this wonderful event to support Stroud Water Research Center and The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County.

Brands That Give Back

During the month of September, we teamed up with a bunch of our loyal Brands to raise funds to invest in three local non-profits. In 2019, we benefited Brandywine Conservancy, The Land Conservancy of Southern Chester County, and Brandywine Red Clay Alliance. During this month, each purchase from a participating 'Brand that Gives Back' earned you a token to vote for one of the three, local non-profit organizations. The organizations that received the most tokens by the end of each week was be granted the most funds, with second and third place receiving only a bit less. In 2019, Brandywine Conservancy received the most votes! This is one of our favorite events each year, as it brings together a bunch of incredible organizations with only one goal in mind: to better our environment and local community!
